OpenAIRE compatibility for DSpace repositories

The OpenAIRE Guidelines for Literature Repositories provide orientation for repository managers to define and implement their local data management policies according to the requirements of OpenAIRE - Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe.

This tutorial session proposal outlines the OpenAIRE guidelines, and how to implement them in DSpace repositories, highlighting the recent updates in the OpenAIRE infrastructure and the main changes in the last version of the guidelines. The latest changes in OpenAIRE guidelines are intended to guide repository managers to expose to the OpenAIRE infrastructure not only European Commission funded research results, but also publications funded by other national or international funders.

OpenAIRE uses OAI-PMH for harvesting publication metadata and OpenAIRE expects metadata to be encoded in the Dublin Core metadata format (metadata-Prefix oai_dc). For full compatibility, OpenAIRE relies on a specific syntax used in the values of standard Dublin Core metadata fields to identify projects, funders, referenced publications, and datasets.

The present proposal is for a tutorial session directed to repository managers and administrators interested in learning more about making their DSpace repository compatible with the OpenAIRE infrastructure and wanting to help their faculty complying with the Open Access requirements of the European Commission (FP7/ERC/H2020).
