Framework for Open Science and Research

This document describes the framework for the Open Science and Research Initiative (ATT) using enterprise architecture methodology. This target architecture will set national principles for open science that govern data and services used in science and research, the exchange of information, and the development of e-services. 'The framework for open science is a general description of the desired architecture (target architecture) for this sector. The framework configures and defines the key structural elements without expressing specific manifestation, say for example, like naming technologies or other details of design and implementation. The framework for open science defines the framework in which shared open science and research solutions will be designed and implemented, including its components: information management, applications, and local services. This framework for open science gives an overview of how various actors' and components of open science – including data, data structures, actors, roles and IT systems – will form an interoperable system in the target state. We seek to split functions and technological components into logical entities in which only one solution is developed for the one common purpose, and which seamlessly connect to other services and existing implementations both nationally and at other research organisations.
